Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to Risdon Park Primary School.

It is my genuine hope that from the moment you connect with our school, you feel a sense of belonging. At Risdon Park PS, we believe that when a child enrols, the whole family becomes part of our community. We value strong partnerships with families and know that when we work together, children will thrive.

Our priority is simple yet powerful: we want every child to feel happy, safe and successful at school. We are committed to nurturing each child, so they flourish socially, emotionally and academically within a caring and inclusive environment. Every child matters every day!

At the heart of our work is a deep belief in high expectations, strong relationships and a positive learning culture. Through our shared commitment to our Six Givens and Three Imperatives, we create classrooms where students feel valued, supported and appropriately challenged. We are proud of our school virtues—We are Kind, We are Brave, We are Proud of what we do—which guide how we learn and interact every day.

We are passionate about developing confident, capable learners and future leaders. Students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning and contribute meaningfully to our school community through opportunities such as Student Representative Council, KidsCo and student-led clubs.

Wellbeing sits at the centre of everything we do. Our whole-school approach, guided by the Berry Street Education Model, supports students to develop self-regulation, resilience and positive relationships.

We intentionally create calm, predictable and supportive learning environments where every child feels safe and ready to learn.

We are equally committed to excellence in learning. Strong literacy and numeracy are foundational, and we use evidence-based teaching practices to ensure every student is supported and extended.

Our structured literacy approach, alongside rich numeracy experiences, helps students build confidence and capability in meaningful ways.

Children enjoy a broad and engaging curriculum including The Arts, Science, Technologies, Health and Physical Education, History and Social Sciences and wellbeing programs. Opportunities such as choir, instrumental music, dance, Children’s University and SAPSASA enrich the learning experience and help children discover their strengths and passions.

For our students in Years 3–6, our innovative Ignite, Excite and Empower program plays an important role in bringing learning to life. This program is designed to make learning more engaging, meaningful and hands-on, while giving students greater choice and voice in their learning. Through real-life contexts and opportunities to explore their interests, students develop curiosity, creativity and a deeper connection to their learning.

We also know that children learn best when they feel connected. Our Play, Connect and Thrive program reflects our belief that play, relationships and student voice are essential for both wellbeing and learning. When children feel a strong sense of belonging, they are more confident to take risks, explore and grow.

Our dedicated staff are our greatest asset. Their expertise, care and commitment ensure that every child is known, supported and given every opportunity to succeed.

I warmly invite you to visit our school, meet our community and see our learning in action. We would love to welcome you and your family to Risdon Park Primary School.
